J. Smith "Smitty" Harrison, Jr. Executive Director
Smitty joined the Association in 1993 and has been in the insurance
industry since 1977. He has a B.S. degree in Business Administration,
magna cum laude, from the University of South Carolina, and has a
Masters in Insurance from Georgia State University. He was an
Adjunct Professor of Insurance at USC for sixteen years. His insurance
designations include CPCU, AIM, ARM, and ARe. Smitty is a Past Chairman
of the Property Insurance Plan Service Office (PIPSO) as well as a
Past Chairman of the National Conference of Insurance Guaranty Funds (NCIGF),
and is a Special Deputy Receiver for South Carolina Insurance Company, in Liquidation,
and Consolidated American Insurance Company, in Liquidation. He was elected to the Georgia
State University Risk Management and Insurance Hall of Fame in 2018.

Rick Amick Deputy Executive Director - Finance & IT
Rick joined the Association in 1995 and has been in the insurance industry since 1980. He has a B.S. degree from
Presbyterian College, and an MBA from the University of South Carolina. His insurance
designations include CPCU, AIAF, and ARe.

Tom Souder Senior Director - Business Operations
Tom joined the Association in 2020 and has been in the insurance industry since 1992. He has a Bachelor's
and Master's degrees from the University of Florida. His insurance designations include CPCU, CLCS, ARe, AIM, AIS, and AINS.
Prior to joining the Association, Tom served in leadership roles on several insurance industry and non-profit boards,
bureaus, and associations.

Administrative Assistant

Brandy Brown
Brandy has over 20 years in the insurance industry. She began her career with Companion Property and Casualty in 1999 and started with SC Wind and Hail Association in 2014.
She is a certified notary public and has previously trained in IT, claims, and underwriting throughout her career.
In addition to her duties as an Executive Assistant to Smitty Harrison, Brandy is responsible for organizing Association meetings, day-to-day office operations, and assisting wherever needed.

|
Randy Mason Claims Director
Randy joined the Association in 2010 and has been in the claims sector
of the insurance industry since 1983. He is a multi-line adjuster and
has been Claims Manager of various offices across the US. He has a B.S.
degree from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). He is a prior
member of and was on the Board of Directors of the Claims Management
Association of South Carolina, as well as a prior member of Blue Goose of CA.

Trae Allison Assistant Claims Director
Trae joined the Association in 2024 and has been in the claims sector of the
insurance industry since 2003. He is a multi-line adjuster and has been Claims
Manager of various offices in South Carolina. He has a Bachelor's from the
University of South Carolina and has his Associate in Claims designation.
He is a prior member of and was on the Board of Directors of the Claims Management
Association of South Carolina and is a current member of the Claims and Litigation
Management Alliance.

Lynn Laag Claims Adjuster
Lynn joined the Association in 1991 as an Underwriter. She has an Associate’s Degree from Midlands Technical College. In 2014, she transferred to the Claims Department as a Claims Assistant. She obtained her adjuster’s license in 2016. Her insurance designations include AIAM. She is currently working on her AINS designation.

Amy Vickers Claims Adjuster
Amy joined SCWHUA in 2006 as an Underwriting Assistant.
In 2012, she transferred to SCPCIGA as a Claims Examiners specializing in Workers Compensation Claims.
Her insurance designations include AIC, AINS, and AIS.

Anna Batchler Underwriting Director
Anna joined the Association in 2005 and has been in the insurance industry since 2004.
She has a B.S. degree from the University of South Carolina, where she majored in Insurance
and Risk Management and minored in Technology Support and Training Management. She also
has a Masters in Insurance from Boston University. Anna was appointed to the PIPSO Underwriting Committee in 2022.
Her insurance designations include CPCU, AAI, AAI-M, AIAF, AIC, AIC-M, AIM, AIDA, AINS, AIS, AIT, API, ARC, ARe, ARM, and AU.

Niko Simmons-Collette Underwriter
Niko joined the Association in August 2022 as an Underwriting Intern. She began full time as an Underwriter in January 2023.
She has her Bachelor's degree in Business Management from the University of South Carolina.
She is currently enrolled at the University of South Carolina - Aiken working on her Master's in Accounting.
Her insurance designations include AINS, AIS and API.

Laura Wilhide Underwriter
Laura joined the Association as an Underwriting Assistant in 1998. Her insurance designations include AINS, AIS and API.

Wanda Williams Underwriter
Wanda joined the Association in 1987 after working for Seibels Bruce and S.C. Student Loans.
Her primary role is as an underwriter, but she has helped in other areas of the Association, as needed, over the years.
Her knowledge has been obtained through the day to day operations of the Association.

Brad Woodward Accounting & HR Director
Brad joined the Association in 2014 and has worked in accounting since 2005. He has
a B.S degree and an MBA from the University of South Carolina. Brad completed
his CPCU designation in 2019.

Stacey Hood Accounting Assistant
Stacey joined the Association in 2015 as the General Ledger Accounting Assistant for
SCPCIGA (Guaranty Association). In 2021, she transferred to SC Wind as the General Ledger
Accounting Assistant. She has an Associate's Degree from Piedmont Technical College, and a
Bachelors of Science in Business from the University of Phoenix.
Her insurance designations include AINS and AIS.

Lenlee joined the Association in 2021.

Information Technology Team
|
Carole Pugh IT Director
Carole joined the Association in 2014, and has been in the Information Technology field
for more than 20 years. Her background includes Software Design and Development,
System Architecture and Design, and Hardware, Platform and Software Installation and
upgrades. Previous Specialties include business process optimization utilizing electronic
workflow and case management solutions. Previous Employers include Policy Management
Systems, FileNet, IBM US, IBM Australia and SCANA Corporation. She has a B.A. degree from
Augusta University. She earned the GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC) Certification in 2018.

Bryan Kite Technology Manager
Bryan joined the Association in 2020 and has been in the software industry since 1996.
His expertise spans Web Application Development, Database Integrations and Web Services.
Previous employers include PMSC, Conita Technologies, Avaya, InsLogic,
Capital One Insurance Services, CSC and the Broward County Clerk of Courts.
He has a B.A. degree in Computer Information Systems from the University of South Carolina.
He earned the GIAC Information Security Fundamentals (GISF) certification in 2023, followed by GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC) in 2024.

Jay Leadbitter IT Specialist
Jay joined the association in 2021 and has been in the software development field since 2007. He graduated from Midlands Technical College in 2007 with a degree in Computer Technology.
